The Contemplative Project
Bringing the benefits of meditation & contemplative practice
to education, business, activism, health care, and social justice.
The Contemplative Project is a network of professionals
in B.C. dedicated to bringing the practice of mindfulness meditation
into meaningful practical action through work in the world. The project
was seeded by Compassion in Action Conference: Contemplative Practice
& Social Change at Hollyhock in 2002 with Mirabai Bush, Director
of Center for Contemplative Mind in Society in Mass. Subsequent events
have been co-led by meditation teachers Steven Smith and Michele Mcdonald.
The project’s initial retreats, held in the socio-political hotspot
of downtown eastside Vancouver, have blossomed into Open Mind Wise
Heart: Contemplative Practice in Personal & Professional Life
week-end public retreats in collaboration with Banyen Books & Sound
in Vancouver and Royal Roads University Continuing Studies in Victoria,
B.C.
